The Unified Military Affairs Council (UMAC) values the importance military installations to the overall well-being of the Capital Region’s economy and quality of life. UMAC is a program of the Capital Region Chamber in partnership with the Saratoga County Chamber and the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County.
Schenectady County’s largest military presence is at Stratton Air National Guard Base in Glenville, home to the 109th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard.
Schenectady County is also home to the Navy Operational Support Center in Glenville, the Niskayuna Army Reserve Center and the Armed Forces Recruiting Center in the City of Schenectady.
In addition, UMAC supports Navy Support Activity in Saratoga Springs, the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Ballston Spa and the Watervliet Arsenal.
UMAC’s mission is to highlight the importance of the military presence in the Capital Region and ensure its long-term viability and success. We strive to increase public knowledge of the contributions made by military units in the Capital Region, all of which impact our global, national, state and regional economy.
