Chamber Announces 27th Annual Business Award Honorees

The Chamber of Schenectady County will honor the following businesses and individuals at its 27th Annual Business Awards on Wednesday, October 7 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Glen Sanders Mansion, One Glen Avenue, Scotia. Register here.

The Rising Star Award, given to a business in operation for two years or less that has demonstrated commitment to the community and exhibits potential for long-term success, goes to Puzzles Bakery & Café, owned by Sara Mae Hickey, on State Street in Schenectady.

Mexican Radio, owned by Lori Selden and also on State Street in Schenectady, takes away the Renaissance Award, given to a business, organization or group which has an outstanding appearance that has contributed to the revitalization of Schenectady County.

The Entrepreneur of the Year, known for natural-born leadership skills and a charismatic personality, is David Dussault of Package One Industries in Schenectady.

Socha Management in Glenville is the Enterprise of the Year, recognizing a businesses with 100 employees or less distinguishing itself through achievements in growth and management. The business is owned by William Socha.

The Tech Valley Innovation Award, featuring a business that has demonstrated extraordinary technical innovation, will be given to The Challenger Learning Center at miSci.

Adirondack Beverages in Scotia has been named the Corporation of the Year, employing more than 100 employees and distinguishing itself through achievements in growth and management.

Last but certainly not least, the Executive of the Year, reserved for a natural-born leader and charismatic go-getter who represents a large corporation is Dr. Laura Schweitzer, President Emeritus, Union Graduate College.
